Sign of Signs

Mounted on the side of one of the workshops of the Surrey Operations Centre (aka the works yard) this is a hand made tri-prism sign that is constructed in a false perspective frame work that mimics the architectural details of the main Works Yard Office Building. Two of the images in the sign were found in the Surrey Archives both taken from the same location from different times. I found the location on highway 15, looking south, and took a third “present day” image in 2016. The two archival images were taken in 1935 and 1968. The tri-prisim sign is driven by the wind randomly. All the individual panels rotate independently thus creating a common landscape but a mix of historical infrastructure and built environments.
