Woodbine

A wooden engine in the middle of a forested park in Surrey. Based on a V-8 engine the action of a participant in the treadmill / flywheel would drive the 2’ x 2’ timbers/pistons to slowly undulate up and down. Chairs were carved into the tops for a comfortable and relaxing ride by the more passive participants. A social dynamic was set up between the persons riding and the person below doing the work. There were six old growth fir trees standing within 100‘ of the location in Crescent Beach. The area had a parking lot adjacent that would gather young folks and their muscle cars on Friday nights.

Wood, steel, heavy timber, bearings human powered and leisurely demand. 14’ x 20’ x 11’ 1986
